Alvernia wasted little time getting on the board against Hood's ace, Nate Luscombe. Dunne smashed a double to the track in center and moved up on a wild pitch. Hunter Hart walked and stole second then Nathan Sides lifted a sacrifice fly to center and Briner grounded out to short to score Hart and put the Golden Wolves up 2-1.
Landy put the Blazers down in order in the top of the second on seven pitches. Â Marcus Celiano hit his third home run of the season out to center for a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the second, and the Wolves manufactured a run when Mike Cirilli singled, moved up on a failed pick off attempt, and came around on a Dunne single up the middle.
Landy worked well through the third and fourth, but ran into trouble in the fifth. Â The Blazers opened the inning with back-to-back singles then Landy bounced a throw to first on a sacrifice bunt and the bases were loaded.
Cam Esposito singled inside the bag at third to bring in two runs. Â The Blazers tied the game on a groundout to short, and took a 5-4 lead when Sawyer hit a two-out single through the right side to score Esposito.
Nicholas Marotta took the ball from Landy and got out of the inning on one pitch with a fly ball to right.
Alvernia was able to bounce right back in the bottom of the fifth putting together a pair of two out hits to score a run. Â Sides doubled to the gap in left center and Briner hit a soft liner that the second baseman dove for. He recovered to grab the ball, but threw wild to first allowing Sides to come around.
