Reading, Pa. (May 27, 2020) - With the sudden and unfortunate end to the 2020 spring sports season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 30 Golden Wolves potentially saw their college athletic careers come to an end. The NCAA has granted all spring student-athletes an additional season of eligibility, so some members of the class of 2020 may decide to return in 2021. However, in case these student-athletes have played their last game or match for Alvernia, we would like to honor them with a senior day. So, every weekday for the rest of the month, we will be honoring these students-athletes with senior spotlights.

Our final week of senior spotlights continues with Women’s Tennis senior Cassandra Bean.

Question and Answer with Cassandra:

What was your favorite memory?

“It was our last conference match of the Spring 2019 season against Stevenson. The match was tied 4-4 and I was the only match left, so it depended on my match to win and secure the #2 seed for Semifinals. I had lost the first set, won the second set in a tie break, and had to play a tiebreaker for the third set. It was very stressful and I felt so much pressure. But my team and the men's team were cheering for me and encouraging me. They started yelling "It's Bean time!" and supported me throughout the tie breaker. I won the tie breaker and we won the match! Everyone still says "Bean time" or asks me what time it is. I will never forget it!.”

What are your future plans?

“I plan to work as an occupational therapist in a hospital or rehabilitation center. I'm not sure where I'm going to go exactly, but I'm trusting in God to direct my path.”

Is there anyone you would like to thank?

“I'd like to thank my parents and grandparents for always supporting me and cheering me on. I'd like to thank my coaches for helping me grow as an athlete and keeping me positive and confident in my abilities. And thank you to my team for the friendships and memories we have made.”

What message do you have for your teammates?

“I'm going to miss my team so much. We've had a lot of fun together on and off the court. I've loved growing together and am excited to hear about all their accomplishments they will have next year!”
