Green Terror Run By Golden Wolves, 77-37

Westminster, MD (Nov. 25, 2025) - McDaniel College (7-0) jumped out to a 20-4 lead through the first quarter and never looked back as the Green Terror defeated Alvernia University (3-2), 77-37 on Tuesday night in non-conference women's basketball action at McDaniel.

After a 50 minute delay to the start of the game, the Green Terror wasted no more time getting to work. McDaniel, who was receiving votes in this week's coaches' poll, outscored Alvernia 10-2 through the first five minutes, and then doubled up the Golden Wolves over the next five minutes to take a 20-4 lead into the second quarter. McDaniel kept it rolling, taking a 42-16 lead into the break. McDaniel kept pressing coming out of the half, outscoring Alvernia 21-8 in the third quarter to take a 63-24 lead into the final ten minutes. Alvernia played McDaniel close in the final frame, but McDaniel came away with the 77-37 win.

How it Happened
  • After a scoreless opening 90 seconds for both sides, the Green Terror got on the board first with a layup by Teya Mconnaha. Alvernia answered with a driving layup by Olivia Burke to even the game at 2-2 through two minutes.
  • The layup from Burke marked Alvernia's only points for nearly four minutes as McDaniel took a 10-2 lead. A pair of made free throws by Jennah DeGout ended Alvernia's scoring drought, but the Golden Wolves were held without a point the rest of the way as McDaniel took a 20-4 lead into the second quarter.
  • McDaniel built its lead up to 29-4 through the early minutes of a quarter until Alvernia's 11 minutes without a field goal ended with a 3-pointer by Ryleigh Poole. The Green Terror kept their foot on the gas and led 34-9 just past the midpoint of the quarter. Alvernia got into double digits, 36-11, on a DeGout layup with 3:09 to play.
  • Alvernia made it a 39-14 game on a Grace Dobrzynski 3-pointer with 1:41 to play in the half. But, the Green Terror took a 42-16 lead into the half. McDaniel shot 16-for-31 for 51.6% from the floor in the first half, and held Alvernia to 5-for-24 for 20.8% shooting from the floor.
  • McDaniel scored the opening points of the second half, but Alvernia answered with a driving layup by Jordyn Ingelido. However, the Golden Wolves could not close the gap as the Green Terror kept their foot on the gas coming out of the half. McDaniel outscored Alvernia 21-8 in the third frame, giving the Green Terror a 63-24 lead going into the final ten minutes.
  • Alvernia had its highest scoring quarter come in the final frame, with the Golden Wolves putting up 13 points. Alvernia had seven players record a point in the fourth quarter, with Paige Garner leading the way with three. McDaniel closed out the game with a 14 point fourth quarter for the 77-37 final.
