In a 93-91 setback to #23 Montclair State on Saturday, Cottrell scored a team-high 40 points, marking the most points scored by an Alvernia player in over two years. He finished the evening going 10-for-15 from the floor, 4-for-8 from 3-point range, and 16-for-17 from the free throw line. He also had five assists and five steals. In a 92-80 win over PSU Abington on Monday, Cottrell went 6-for-11 from the floor and 9-for-9 from the line for 23 points. He also added five assists and three steals. In a 114–73 win over PSU Berks on Wednesday, Cottrell scored 14 points in just 20 minutes of action, and was once again perfect from the free throw line (6-for-6). He also added seven assists and a steal as Alvernia came up just two points short of a 30-year old program record for points scored in a game.
