Ralph Clark joined the Alvernia University Athletics Staff as the Head Football Coach on January 11, 2017.  He was hired as the first head coach in the program's history.

Clark led Alvernia to win over Gallaudet in the first game in program history on September 1, 2018. The following season, Clark and the Golden Wolves finished at 2-8, including the first MAC win in program history with a 29-24 win over Lycoming College.

Clark joined the Golden Wolves' staff after a year as the Defensive Coordinator and Recruiting Coordinator at Seton Hill University.

Clark was a four-year letter winner and a member of the first graduating football class at Robert Morris College.  He finished his career with 1,362 yards and 12 touchdowns.  Following his senior season he was named an Unsung Hero All-American by The College Football Chronicle and was invited for a free-agent tryout with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Clark started his coaching career as an assistant coach at James Madison High School in Vienna, Virginia.  After two years at Vieanna and a year at St. John’s College High School in Washington D.C., he made the jump to college as a linebackers and secondary coach at Georgetown.  Clark got his first opportunity as a defensive coordinator at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology from 2006 to 2008.  After his first season at Rose-Hulman Clark was one of 30 coaches in the nation invited to participate in the 2007 Football Coaching Academy.  The Academy was hosted by the NCAA and featured sponsorship from the NFL  It was convened initially in 2003 to promote leadership development for ethnic minority coaches.

As the defensive coordinator at Rose-Hulman Clark led a defense that was ranked second in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference against the run at 91 yards per game in 2006 and allowed just 14 points per game.  At Saint Francis (Pa.) his defense set a school record with seven interceptions in a game and ranked second in the Northeast Conference in red zone defense.

Clark moved on from St. Francis to become the Defensive Coordinator at Millersville University where he inherited a defense that ranked 16th in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) and improved the unit to #5 after two seasons.  He continued the improvement trend at Seton Hill where he coordinated a defense that ranked 17th to 10th in one season, and finished the 2016 season as the #1 ranked 3rd down defense in the PSAC.
