The Tom and Helen Flynn Plex (The Plex)
The Tom and Helen Flynn Complex for Recreation, Wellness and Health Science (the PLEX) is a 100,000-square-foot academic and recreation facility that opened in 2019.
Alvernia Athletics utilizes the 70,000-square-foot fieldhouse for a variety of athletic and recreation activities. The space includes a six-lane NCAA competition-level indoor track and four full-sized multipurpose courts. It is an indoor practice facility that is available for the use of all Alvernia’s teams and student-athletes.
The space is also the home to Alvernia Indoor Track and Field, making Alvernia the only institution in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) with a competition-level indoor track. Alvernia hosts multiple collegiate and high school invitationals every year, and is also the host for the MAC Indoor Track and Field Championship every February. Alvernia also hosts wrestling invitationals across the four courts.
There is also a Full Swing Golf Simulator located in the PLEX’s fieldhouse that is available for Alvernia Students, Faculty, and Staff. The Full Swing Golf Simulator includes the company’s golf and sport package. It has a list of Arcade-style sports games including football, basketball, hockey, soccer, baseball, and dozens more. As an official simulator partner of the PGA Tour, Full Swing offers play on many of the iconic tour stops including Pebble Beach and TPC Sawgrass.Â
