Three Goal Spurt Propels Rowan

Lynch Scores 15th For Crusaders

Glassboro, N.J. (Oct. 23, 2007) – Rowan University broke a 1-1 tie with three goals in a six minute span leading to a 4-1 win over Alvernia College Tuesday evening in non-conference field hockey action at Rowan.

Alvernia (14-5) sophomore Janelle Lynch (Macungie, Pa./Brandywine Heights) extended her team lead with her 15th goal of the season. Her unassisted tally knotted the game at 1-1 eight minutes into the game.

Rowan (11-4) had taken a 1-0 lead on a goal in the seventh minute and regained the lead when Danielle Miranda scored her first of two on the night in the 24th minute. Miranda's second at 27:41 put the hosts up two goals and Amanda Greene capped the scoring in the 30th minute unassisted.

Alvernia junior Audrey Hoffman (Mertztown, Pa./Brandywine Heights) made seven saves in net for the Crusaders and sophomore Breah Kinney (Forty Fort, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) recorded two of the team's three defensive saves.

Alvernia, the top seed in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Championships, closes the regular season schedule and will host a semifinal playoff game next Wednesday against an opponent to be determined.
