Terrence Shawell (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) scored 13 of his game-high 22 points during a 36-10 run for Alvernia College that led the Crusaders to an 80-64 win over Lebanon Valley College Wednesday evening in non-conference men's basketball action at the Physical Education Center.
Shawell scored the first eight points of the run on his own as Alvernia (2-2) turned a 14-point deficit into a 12-point lead following the 12-minute run.
Sophomore forward
Matt King (Phoenixville, Pa./St. Pius X) chipped in with 16 points and junior
Tim Walters (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Wood) scored 12 points, all from behind the 3-point arc with three of the four 3s coming midway through the second-half run.
Alvernia trailed 38-32 at the halftime break and surrendered five straight points to start the second half before Shawell's eight straight sparked the comeback.
The Crusaders will travel to Immaculata University on Monday to open the conference schedule. Game time is 8:00p.m.
