, Pa. (September 15, 2007) – Sophomore forward Janelle Lynch (Macungie, Pa./Brandywine Heights) scored a goal in each half to lead Alvernia College to a 2-0 win over Cabrini College Saturday afternoon in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference field hockey action at Alvernia.
 
Alvernia capitalized on one of its 12 penalty corners when senior midfielder Amber Landis (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) passed the ball into Lynch, who fired a shot from the top of the circle for Alvernia's (4-2, 2-0 PAC) first goal in the 26th minute. Junior Christy Miller (Alburtis, Pa./Brandywine Heights) set up the second goal in the 38th minute when she weaved the ball into Lynch who was once again poised near the top of the circle.
 
Alvernia junior Audrey Hoffman (Mertztown, Pa./Brandywine Heights) needed two saves to record her first shutout of the season while counterpart Caitlin Donahue made 10 saves in net for the Cavaliers (0-5, 0-2 PAC). The Crusaders overpowered Cabrini with their offense, as they out shot the Cavaliers 24 to three, and had 12 corner opportunities compared to Cabrini's five. 
 
Alvernia will return to action Sept. 18 as they hit the road for a non-conference game at King's College at 4:00 pm.
