Quick Goal Spurt Leads King's Past Alvernia

Rutt Scores First Career Goal For Alvernia

Scranton, Pa. (Oct. 26, 2008) - King's College (13-3, 4-2) scored two goals in a 90 second span late in the first half en route to a 3-1 win over Alvernia University (8-8, 2-3) Saturday morning in Freedom Conference field hockey action at King's.

After more than a half hour of scoreless action King's opened the scoring in the 33rd minute and added the second goal in the 34th minute.  The host Monarch's added a third goal in the 60th minute and Alvernia freshman Tonya Rutt (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) scored her first career goal on a penalty corner in the final minute of play.

Alvernia goalie Audrey Hoffman (Mertztown, Pa./Brandywine Heights) made three saves, all in the first half.

The Crusaders will travel to DeSales University on Tuesday for a conference battle with the Bulldogs on Tuesday.
