Alvernia Falls At FDU, 2-0

Hoffman Saves Five In The Loss

Florham, N.J. (Oct. 30, 2008) - FDU-Florham (9-9, 4-4) scored a pair of second half goals to top Alvernia University (9-9, 3-4) 2-0 in Freedom Conference field hockey action at FDU.

Alvernia managed seven shots in the first half to four for the hosts, but neither team was able to find the back of the net, and a game with playoff implictions remained scoreless at the half. 

FDU opened the scoring in the 48th minute and doubled its lead eight minutes later.  Alvernia finished with a decided 16-9 advantage in shots, but the Crusaders failed to finish and will be left out of the conference playoffs in their first year in the league.

Alvernia will wrap up its season hosting Wilkes on Saturday.
