BOX SCORE

Gwynedd Valley, PA (Sept. 10, 2008) - The Crusaders (3-2) climbed above .500 with a 6-0 drubbing of Gwynedd-Mercy College (1-3) this afternoon in non-conference action at Gwynedd-Mercy.  Much of the contest was played in the middle of the field with Alvernia tallying only eight shots and Gwynedd attempting only five of their own all game.  Alvernia was able to capitalize with six of their eight total shots ending up in the cage.

The Crusaders took the quick 1-0 lead in the fourth minute when sophomore Christy Yousaitis (West Lawn, PA/Wilson) connected for her first goal of the season.  Alvernia would add another goal in the 23rd minute thanks to freshman Sarah George (Westchester, PA/WC Bayard Rustin).  Ten minutes later Ashley Tatangelo (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) would connect for a successful penalty stroke to give Alvernia the 3-0 lead heading into halftime.

Junior Janelle Lynch (Macungie, PA/Brandywin) made sure Alvernia got right back to business in the second half with her third goal of the season less that five minutes into the second half.  Tatangelo would connect for another succesful penalty stroke in the 53rd minute, and freshman Kate Sementelli (Newport, PA/Greenwood) notched her first goal of the season to cap off Alvernia's scoring with less than five seconds remaining in the game.

Alvernia will not play again until Sept. 16th when they take on Widener University at home at 4:00 pm.
