Four-Goal Second Half Carries Wilkes

Scranton, Pa. (Oct. 1, 2009) - Wilkes University (8-1) ran off four straight goals in the second half in a 4-1 win over Alvernia University (5-4) in non-conference field hockey action at Artillery Park.

Alvernia sophomore Abby Eby (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot), who finished the game with a dozen saves, made three stops in the first half to keep the game knotted at 0-0 after 35 minutes.

Wilkes scored twice in the first 10 minutes of the second half and added goals in the 55th and 65th minutes for a 4-0 lead before Alvernia sophomore Sam Landis (Watsontown, Pa./Warrior Run) converted a Janelle Lynch (Macungie, Pa./Brandywine Heights) pass in the 67th minute.

Wilkes freshman Jenna DiSabatino finished with two goals and an assist and Lindsey Davenport recorded five saves in the win.

Alvernia returns home to host Elizabethtown College on Saturday.
