BOX SCORE

Reading, Pa. (Oct. 27, 2009) - Freshman Jess Beisswanger (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) scored her first goal of the season three minutes into the second half and sophomore Abby Eby (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) notched four saves to record her seventh shutout of the season as Alvernia University (10-8, 3-4) bettered Albright 1-0 Tuesday evening in Commonwealth Conference field hockey action at Shirk Stadium.

After a scoreless first half Beisswanger tipped in the game-winner assisted by Katy Eby (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot).

Albright, which recorded just one shot in the first half, turned up the offense as well putting four shots toward Abby Eby in the second half, but the sophomore keeper continually turned the Lions away.  With one game to play, at Cabrini on Thursday, Abby Eby pulled within one shutout of the season record at Alvernia held by Audrey Hoffman '09.

Alvernia earned its fifth straight win over crosstown rival Albirght and improved to 9-3 in the series.
