Reading, Pa. (Apr. 13, 2009) - Elizabethtown College (19-9) earned a pair of non-conference wins Monday afternoon over Alvernia University (17-13) in baseball action at Angelica Park.  The Blue Jays took the opener 6-2 and won the nightcap 6-5 with three runs in the eighth inning.

A pair of big innings did the Crusaders in in both games.  Etown plated four runs in third inning of game one on four straight base hits and a sacrifice fly.  The Alvernia offense couldn't find a rythym against Etown starter Adam Hartzell who allowed just one run on four hits.

In game two Alvernia scored two runs in the sixth on a Chris Stoudt (West Lawn, Pa./Governor Mifflin) two-out triple and another in the seventh to force extra innings, but Stoudt's two-run homer in the eighth only cut a three run gap to one after the Jays plated three runs in the top of the eighth.

Alvernia returns to the conference schedule on Friday hosting DeSales University at 3:30 p.m.

Game One - Elizabethtown 6, Alvernia 2
Game Two - Elizabethtown 6, Alvernia 5 (8 inn)
