Alvernia kept Wilkes from threatenign much after the second giving up just single baserunners in the sixth and seventh, and Ed Thompson (Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury) pitched out of two-on trouble in the eighth.

Sophomore Tim Ahlquist (Millville, N.J./Millville) singled to open the bottom of the ninth and took second when Reid Martin (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) reached on an error with one out.  Wilkes stranded the runners with a strikeout and a groundout securing the top spot in the playoffs.
