Peto Tallies For Alvernia

BOX SCORE

Wilkes-Barre, Pa. (Oct. 6, 2010) - King's College junior Jenera Quinones was a one-woman wrecking crew Wednesday night scoring all three goals for the Monarchs (8-2) in a 3-1 win over Alvernia University (6-5) in non-conference field hockey action at McCarthy Field.

Quinones scored the opener on a breakaway in the 17th minute, but Alvernia sophomore Miranda Peto (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) ripped home the equalizer in the 32nd minute on a shot from the top of the circle.

The score was tied 1-1 at the break with Alvernia scoring on its only shot of the half and Crusader goalie Abby Eby (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) making five saves at the other end.

Quinones scored her second of the night three minutes into the second half and added insurance in the 56th minute.  Eby made five more saves in the second half and finished with 10.

The Crusaders return to the conference schedule on Saturday when they host Messiah College at 11:00 a.m.
