#3 Drew Scores Late In 3-2 Win

Reading, Pa. (Nov. 10, 2010) - Third-seeded Drew University (14-6) scored a tie-breaking goal in the final four minutes of play for a 3-2 win over #6 Alvernia University (11-10) Wednesday evening in quarterfinal action of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Mid-Atlantic Region Field Hockey Championships at Drew.

The Rangers opened the scoring with an early goal in the fourth minute of play, but Alvernia junior Katy Eby (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) scored on a rebound in the 30th minute to force a 1-1 tie at halftime.

Alvernia senior Ashley Tatangelo (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) put the Crusaders up 2-1 with her third goal of the season seven minutes into the second half, but the Rangers answered that 10 minutes later, and scored the game-winner in the 67th minute.

Junior goalie Abby Eby (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) made seven saves for the Crusaders who wrap up their season with a second straight ECAC appearance.

Drew advances to the ECAC semifinal and will face #2 Wesley at top-seeded Catholic on Saturday.
