Elizabethtown, Pa. (Mar. 20, 2010) - Elizabethtown College (6-4, 2-1) limited Alvernia University (10-4, 1-2) to just five hits and no runs in a doubleheader sweep Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Conference baseball action at Boyd Stadium.

The Jays scored a single run on a wild pitch in game one, a 1-0 victory, and scored five runs on six hits for a 5-0 victory in game two.

Junior Tim Ahlquist (Millville, N.J./Millville) had the only hit for the Crusaders in the opener, but they still had chances to tie the score against Etown starter Todd Leister.  Chris Ray (Exton, Pa./West Chester Henderson) reached on an error with two out and Chazz Losito (Avondale, Pa./Avon Grove) was hit by a pitch to put two on with two out, but Leister got out of the inning on a comebacker off the bat of designated hitter Reid Martin (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata).

The Crusaders put up the same threat in the seventh when Nole Saylor (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) and Steve DeBarberie (Drexel Hill, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) walked with two out, but Leister got a fly ball from Matt Bruno (Norristown, Pa./Methacton) to end the game.

Alvernia had runners in every inning but the last in game two, but failed to push across a run against Matt Vinagro.

Saylor was thrown out trying to score from second on a groundout and Losito was thrown out at the plate trying to score on a fly ball to right.

Alvernia starter Andrew Kirk (Media, Pa./Penncrest) gave up five runs, four earned on six hits and three walks.  He did strike out eight over five and two-thirds.

Alvernia returns home to host Chestnut Hill College on Monday.
