Newark, N.J. (April 13, 2010) - Rutgers-Newark (12-14) strung together four strong innings scoring 11 times from the third through the sixth in a 12-4 defeat of Alvernia University (20-7) Tuesday afternoon in non-conference baseball action at Riverfront Stadium.

Junior Nole Saylor (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) went 3-for-4 at the plate for the Crusaders, and each of the top three batters in the order, Chris Ray (Exton, Pa./West Chester Henderson), Tim Ahlquist (Millville, N.J./Millville), and Steve Bealer (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown), finished with two hits.  Ahlquist hit his second home run of the season, a solo shot in the third.

Mike Orban (Hellertown, Pa./Saucon Valley) gave up six runs over four innings and took his first loss of the season.  Sophomore reliever Andrew Sellers (Pequea, Pa./Penn Manor) had the best day of any Crusaders hurlers giving up just one hit over two innings.

Alvernia continues the non-conference NJAC tour traveling to The College of New Jersey on Wednesday.
