Alvernia Completes Three-Game Sweep Of Arcadia

Glenside, Pa. (April 17, 2010) - Alvernia University (24-7, 11-4) completed a three-game sweep of Arcadia University (6-22, 1-11) Saturday afternoon with 13-3 and 18-6 wins in Commonwealth Conference baseball action at Arcadia.

Alvernia scored two runs in each of the first three innings of game one then six more in the sixth in support of Chuck Nicholas (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) who went the distance and struck out nine batters.  The Crusaders had two three run innings and two five run innings in game two.  Sophomore Jeremy Hausdorf (Floral Park, N.Y./St. Mary's) went four innings and struck out four in the win.

Six players had a multi-hit game in game one for Alvernia including Chuck Krichling (Chesterfield, N.J./Northern Burlington), Reid Martin (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata), and Brian Witkowski (Ewing, N.J./Notre Dame) who all had three hits.  Six more had a multi-hit game in game two led by Chris Ray (Exton, Pa./West Chester Henderson) who finished 4-for-4.

Alvernia has just one more conference series with Lebanon Valley next weekend.  The next game is Monday when the Crusaders host Penn State-Berks.
