Seven-Run Fourth Leads Alvernia Past Centenary

Reading, Pa. (April 21, 2010) - Alvernia University (26-7) scored seven times in the fourth inning in a 12-2 win over Centenary College (16-15) Wednesday afternoon in non-conference baseball action at Angelica Park.

The first three batters in the Alvernia lineup scored and the Crusaders never looked back in support of Cody Smith (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) who went four innings and Brian Longo (Uncasville, Conn./Montville) who also went four.

Chris Ray (Exton, Pa./West Chester Henderson) was 2-for-5 with three runs and Nole Saylor (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) was also 2-for-5.  Reid Martin (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) was 1-for-4 at the plate, but did drive in three runs.

Alvernia returns to the conference schedule Friday at Lebanon Valley.
