Reading, Pa. (Oct. 11, 2011) - Alvernia (9-4) got a goal from Sam Landis (Watsontown, Pa./Warrior Run) for the 1-0 lead, but could not hold on as they fell to visiting #20 Juniata (9-2) 2-1 this afternoon in non-conference action.  Landis' goal was her team-leading eighth goal of the season, it was assisted by Erin Solley (Reading, Pa./Oley Valley) for her team-leading eighth assist of the season.

The first half was all Alvernia for the most part as they outshot Juniata 10-4 and held the 8-6 advantage in corners.  The Crusader's first goal came in the 20th minute off one of their eight first-half corners.  Juniata put the equalizer in just before half off a corner of their own with a goal from Caroline Philips

Juniata netted the go-ahead goal and eventual game winner in the 44th minute from Meghan McGlone.  McGlone found her own rebound off Alvernia's goalie and quickly re-shot it lower left for her third goal of the season.  Despite ten second half corners, including one as the clock struck zero, Alvernia was unable to capitalize.

The Crusaders return to action on Oct. 15th when they travel to conference rival Lebanon Valley College for an 11:00 a.m. start.
