Annville, Pa. (Oct. 15, 2011) - Alvernia University (9-5, 2-1) scored a pair of goals in the final five minutes, but fell a little short of a comeback in a 4-2 loss to Lebanon Valley (11-4, 3-1) Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Conference field hockey action at LVC.

The Dutchmen scored the only three goals of the first half with leading scorer Jocelyn Novak scoring two of the three.  Novak finished off the hat trick five minutes into the second half for the 4-0 lead.  Neither team tallied over the next 20 minutes and the Alvernia offense finally clicked in the final minutes with unassisted goals from Taylor Eichelberger (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor) and Miranda Peto (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville).

The Crusaders posed threatening sets in the final minutes, but Kyle Dillman (Hershey, Pa./Lower Dauphin) was wide on a shot with three minutes to go and Katy Eby's (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) effort was turned aside by LVC goalie Christine Poletti in the game's final seconds.

Erin Wunsch (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) made nine saves in net for the Crusaders.  Poletti finished with three.

Alvernia continues the conference schedule hosting Albright on Wednesday.
