Radnor, Pa. (Oct. 27, 2011) - Miranda Peto (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) scored a pair of goals and Alvernia University (12-6) cruised past Cabrini College (11-6) by a 5-1 final Thursday evening in non-conference field hockey action at Cabrini.

Senior Katy Eby (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) set up a pair of goals in the early going, the first from Peto in the 11th minute and the second from scoring leader Sam Landis (Watsontown, Pa./Warrior Run) five minutes later.  Brittany Barcus (Atglen, Pa./Octorara) scored in the 33rd minute assisted by Taylor Eichelberger (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor) for a 3-0 lead at the halftime break.

Peto scored her second of the game 10 minutes into the second half for a 4-0 lead before Cabrini got on the board in the 47th minute.  Kyle Dillman (Hershey, Pa./Lower Dauphin) finished the scoring assisted by Leah Bear (Mohrsville, Pa./Schuylkill Valley).

Freshman Erin Wunsch (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) made two saves in net to earn the win.

Alvernia closes the regular season with a home game against William Paterson on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.  It starts the Commonwealth Playoffs next Wednesday with a semifinal game at #2 Lebanon Valley.
