Reading, Pa. (Nov. 12, 2011) - Second seeded Alvernia (15-7) defeated third seeded Juniata (11-9) by a score of 2-0 this morning in ECAC semifinal action at Schlager Memorial Field. With the win, Alvernia advances to the ECAC Championship Game tomorrow at 11:00am at Alvernia and will face either #1 Lebanon Valley or #2 Stevens Tech.
The Crusaders got on the board fairly early with a goal from
Katy Eby (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) in the 14th minute, assisted by
Miranda Peto (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville). Alvernia outshot the Eagles 6-2 in the first half and held the penalty corner advantage 3-1.
Alvernia got some insurance in the 48th minute as Peto assisted Solley on her sixth goal of the season. Peto found Solley in front of the net a few passes after a penalty corner, Solley finished up, shooting lower left in the cage. The Crusaders tallied 11 shots and six penalty corners through the second half.

Erin Wunsch (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) had four saves to post her seventh shutout of the season.
Alvernia will face the winner of the 1:30pm game between #1 seeded Lebanon Valley and #4 seeded Stevens Tech (Hoboken, NJ) in the ECAC Championship game tomorrow at Alvernia at 11:00am.
