Reading, Pa. (Nov. 13, 2011) - Host and #2 seeded Alvernia (15-8) fell to #1 seeded Lebanon Valley (16-5) by a score of 4-1 Sunday morning in the ECAC Championship Game at Schlager Memorial Field.  The Dutchmen scored the first two and last two goals of the game, including two from Tournament Most Outstanding Player Jocelyn Novak who set a new Division III career record for points with 300.

The first half was a scoreless tie until the 35th minute of play when LVC broke through with a goal from Lauren Brumbach to take the 1-0 lead heading into the half.  The Dutchmen outshot Alvernia 15-5 in the first half, while Alvernia's best chance at a goal came in the 14th minute when Lauren Guido (Fleetwood. Pa./Fleetwood) banged a shot off the post.  Crusader goalie Erin Wunsch (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) had nine first half saves, some in spectacular fashion to keep Alvernia close.

Novak and her 34th goal of the season gave the Dutchmen a 2-0 lead in the 39th minute, but Alvernia answered back within a minute and a half with a goal from Katy Eby (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) to cut the LVC lead in half.  Eby dribbled through the Dutchmen defense and placed a shot lower right for her seventh goal of the season.

Lebanon Valley's final two goals were both assisted by Kirsten Martzall, with Novak scoring at 59:21 and Cate Cusack scoring LVC's fourth goal at 63:08.

Alvernia was outshot 25-12, while penalty corners were close with LVC earning eight and Alvernia earning seven.

With the win Lebanon Valley takes the ECAC South Title, their first since 2004 when they also defeated Alvernia at Alvernia.
