Reading, Pa. (Nov. 7, 2011) - Alvernia University (13-7) has earned the second seed in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Mid-Atlantic Region Championships and will host #7 FDU-Florham (12-9) at a time to be determined.
The Crusaders advanced to the Commonwealth Conference Final where they fell by a 7-1 final to Messiah College. Alvernia is making its third straight appearance in the ECAC Championships and fourth overall. It advanced to the ECAC Final in 2004 as the #2 seed and lost 3-2 to Lebanon Valley College. In 2009 the Crusaders advanced to the second round as the #4 seed and lost at Drew last year as the #6 seed.

Sam Landis (Watsontown, Pa./Warrior Run) who has totaled 12 goals and six assists through 20 games. Junior
Miranda Peto (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) is second with seven goals, and junior
Erin Solley (Reading, Pa./Oley Valley) has a team-best eight assists. Freshman goalie
Erin Wunsch (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) has played every minute in net for the Crusaders with a 1.75 goals against average and 116 saves.
The Devils advance to the ECAC Championships following an appearance in the Freedom Conference finals where they lost to Eastern University 3-2 in overtime. FDH has three players on the roster with seven or more goals led by Megan Springmeyer who has totaled 10. Lauren Guenther has a team-high five assists to go with seven goals. Tess Loughran has logged most of the minutes in net with a 1.89 goals against average and 128 saves.
Lebanon Valley (14-5) is the tournament's top seed and will host McDaniel in a quarterfinal game on Wednesday. The Dutchmen are not able to host the weekend, so if Alvernia advances it will host the Final Four on Saturday and Sunday.
The other quarterfinal match ups are #6 Ramapo (11-5) at #3 Juniata (10-8) and #5 Wesley (12-9) at #4 Stevens Tech (11-7).
