Reading, Pa. (Apr. 21, 2011) - Travis Wrambel (Newtown Square, Pa./Marple Newtown) had a two-run, go-ahead single in the fifth and Eric Domitrovits (Northampton, Pa./Northampton) chased home a pair with a pinch hit single in the eighth helping #11/14 Alvernia University (26-4, 13-0) to an 8-5 win over Messiah College (19-16, 12-4) in game one of a three-game series between the top two teams in the Commonwealth Conference.

Messiah had a 4-1 lead entering the fifth before the Crusaders came back with four runs on just two base hits, benefiting from three walks and a hit batter.  The Falcons answered right back with an uneared run in the sixth to tie the score at 5-5, but Alvernia scored all three runs in the eight with two out.

Cody Smith (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) earned the win throwing five innings in relief of Chuck Nicholas (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown), and Austin Rohrbach (Maxatawny, Pa./Kutztown) threw the ninth to pick up the save.
