Reading, Pa. (Apr. 4, 2011) - Senior Tim Ahlquist (Millville, N.J./Millville) drew a bases loaded walk to break a 2-all tie in the bottom of the ninth Monday afternoon giving Alvernia University (16-3) a 3-2 win over Manhattanville College (11-7) in non-conference baseball action at Angelica Park.

Alvernia scored two runs in the second inning and Manhattanville put two runs on the board with a pair of solo home runs--one in the third and another in the top half of the ninth.

Alvernia starter Andrew Kirk (Media, Pa./Penncrest) went seven and two-thirds innings giving up just one run on four hits with seven strikeouts.  Austin Rohrbach (Maxatawny, Pa./Kutztown) threw an inning and a third, and gave up the game-tying home run in the ninth, but picked up the win when the Crusaders came through in the ninth.

Chris Gehris (Sinking Spring, Pa./Holy Name) opened the ninth by reaching on an error and moved up on a sacrifice bunt.  Cody Younker (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) came in to run for Gehris and the Valiants intentionally walked Eric Domitrovits (Northampton, Pa./Northampton) to setup the force.  Matt O'Neill (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) pinch hit and was hit by a pitch to load the bases for Ahlquist.

Gehris and Domitrovits both had a pair of hits.  Chris Ray (Exton, Pa./Henderson) went without hit to break a 17 game hit streak.
