Mike Moran (Lafayette, N.Y./Fabius-Pompey) went seven strong innings to lead Alvernia University (18-3) to an 11-3 win over Gwynedd-Mercy College (6-8-1) Thursday afternoon in non-conference baseball action at Angelica Park.
The Crusaders posted eight runs in the first inning helped by three GMC errors. The inning was highlighted by Witkowski's solo shot that caromed off the top of the scoreboard and by
Reid Martin's (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) two-run single.
Everyone in the starting lineup had at least one hit for the Crusaders and Witkowski and
Chris Ray (Exton, Pa./Henderson) both finished with a pair.
Moran went seven innings to earn the win giving up four hits and striking out four.
Alvernia returns to the Commonwealth Conference schedule Friday at Elizabethtown.
