York, Pa. (Aug. 31, 2012) - Senior Lauren Guido (Fleetwood, Pa./Fleetwood) scored two goals in a game for the third time in her career and Alvernia University (1-0) blanked York College (0-1) by a 4-0 count in game two of the York College Field Hockey Tournament Friday afternoon at York.

Guido opened the scoring in the seventh minute punching in a loose ball in front of the cage.  Senior Erin Solley (Reading, Pa./Oley Valley) put the Crusaders up 2-0 when she finished a corner play at the near post in the 32nd minute.

Alvernia held its 2-0 lead at the break thanks in part to sophomore goalie Erin Wunsch (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) who made six of her 11 saves in the first half.

Senior Miranda Peto (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) scored the first goal of the second half in the 52nd minute finishing a cross from freshman Melanie Lowry (Gap, Pa./Octorara) that put Alvernia up 3-0 and Guido capped the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 56th minute.

Guido scored two goals in a game at Widener University in her sophomore year and did the same in a game at Elizabethtown last year.  All three two-goal games have been on the road.

Alvernia advanced to the final of the York Tournament and will face Kean University on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
