BOX SCORE

Carlisle, Pa. (Dec. 18, 2013) - Dickinson College (8-1) ran off a quick 8-0 run early in the second half and posted a 45-25 scoring advantage over the final 20 minutes for a 72-57 win over Alvernia University (5-3) Wednesday evening in non-conference men's basketball action at the Kline Center.

The Crusaders had an 11-point lead, 32-21 with 3:25 left in the first half, following a free throw by Brian Parker (Chichester, Pa./Chichester), but the Red Devils knocked six points of the deficit by halftime as the Crusaders went 0-for-3 from the floor with a turnover in the final three minutes of the half.

The teams traded a pair of buckets each to start the second half, then with the Crusaders holding a 36-31 lead, Dickinson senior Gerry Wixted hit a 3 that sparked the 8-0 run spanning just over 70 seconds.

Harrison Deyo (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) stopped the run with a bucket, but the Red Devils answered with 12 of the next 15 points to establish a 51-41 lead with 11:38 to play.

Parker scored on an and-one play on the inside to pull back within seven, but Dickinson made three free throws and got a layup from Tucker Landy over the next two minutes to push back ahead by a dozen points with nine to play.  The lead remained double digits the rest of the way.

Parker led the way for Alvernia with 19 points and Kahlil Bennett (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) added 14.  Dickinson had a pair of players in double figures as well.  Tom McInenrny came off the bench to score 18 points going 6-for-6 from the floor and 6-for-6 from the free throw line.  Wixted finished with 17 points and nine rebounds.
