Heidelberg Doubles Up Alvernia, 6-3

Stimpson Collects Three Hits For Crusaders

Ft. Myers, Fla. (Mar. 6, 2013) - Heidelberg College (4-0) put up a pair of 3-run innings and got a complete game from Ethan Holt in a 6-3 win over Alvernia University (3-3) Wednesday afternoon in non-conference baseball action.

Heidelberg scored three runs in the third on a walk, two hit batters, and a pair of base hits.  Alvernia cut the gap to one with two runs in the top of the fifth on a 2-run single off the bat of Leon Stimpson (Philadelphia, Pa./Malvern Prep), but Heidelberg stretch the lead out to four with its second 3-run innin gin the bottom of the fifth.

Alvernia scored its third run in the eighth when Stimpson doubled and scored.  Matt Osgoodby (Manasquan, N.J./Wall) went four and a third innings and was charged with all six runs.  Andrew Fisher (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) finished the final three and two-thirds for the Crusaders allowing just two hits.

Stimpson finished with three of the Crusaders' six hits going 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles.

Alvernia continues the spring break trip facing Thiel on Thursday.
