Offense Erupts In 16-7 Win Over USMMA

Ft. Myers, Fla. (Mar. 4, 2013) - Alvernia University (3-2) had a pair of 6-run innings in a 16-7 win over the United States Merchant Marine Academy (0-2) Monday morning in non-conference baseball action at the Player Development Complex.

The Crusaders posted six in the third and six more in the fifth in support of sophomore Steve Price (Barto, Pa./Boyertown) who went six innings giving up two runs on five hits with two strikeouts.  Alvernia had three doubles in the 6-run third and got two-RBI base hits from Leon Stimpson (Philadelphia, Pa./Malvern Prep) and Chris Ray (Exton, Pa./Henderson).

Stimpson and Ray were both 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs.  Kevin Bailey (Fallston, Md./Fallston) was 2-for-2 and Billy Turner (Columbia, N.J./North Warren Regional) went 2-for-3.

Alvernia cotinues the spring break trip playing Heidelberg on Tuesday.
