Matt Patterson (Hamilton, N.J./Nottingham) ripped a walk-off double and closer
Kevin Becker-Menditto (Frederick, Md./Walkersville) picked up his fifth win of the season in a 4-3 win over Lebanon Valley College (9-19, 3-12) Sunday afternoon in Commonwealth Conference baseball action at Angelica Park.
Becker-Menditto, who saved both games in the Crusaders' Saturday sweep at LVC, entered in the eighth inning in a 3-3 game with runners on second and third and one out. He retired the first batter on a comebacker then a strikeout to end the inning. He struck out the side in the ninth around a one-out single setting the stage for the walk-off win.
Leon Stimpson (Philadelphia, Pa./Malvern Prep) singled to start the ninth and moved up on
Chris Ray's (Exton, Pa./West Chester Henderson) sacrifice bunt.
Billy Turner (Columbia, N.J./North Warren Regional) walked and Patterson ripped a 1-0 pitch to center to plate Stimpson.
Alvernia scord two runs in the third on two hits and two errors. Both teams scored a single run in the fourth and Lebanon Valley tied the game with single runs in the seventh and eighth.
Alvernia returns to action Tuesday hosting Rutgers-Newark for a non-conference game.
