Reading, Pa. (Oct. 1, 2014) - Penn State-Berks (9-1) scored a goal in the 52nd minute in a 1-0 win over Alvernia University (4-6) Wednesday evening in non-conference women's soccer action at Alvernia.

The Lions controlled the possessions early, but Alvernia keeper Jessica Plunkett was up to the task making a few point blank saves as part of the eight she collected over the first 45 minutes.  The Crusaders ripped off three shots in the opening half, but couldn't find the back of the net and the game hit the halftime break still scoreless.

PSU drew a foul seven minutes into the second half just off the corner spot and Brennan Moyer served the ball to the back post where Lizzie Mummau emerged from a pile to head in her ninth goal of the season.

Alvernia is back in action on Saturday when it travels to Lycoming College to start the Commonwealth Conference schedule.
