Reading, Pa. (Nov. 1, 2014) - Senior Kristen Eckert buried a beautiful redirection in the 57th minute for the only goal of the game as Alvernia University defeated Hood College, 1-0 in Commonwealth Conference women's soccer action Saturday afternoon at Alvernia University.

The Hood defense had just cleared out an offensive threat by the Crusaders, but Alvernia freshman Amber Scott riffled a shot back into the box that found Eckert 12 yards out.  Her redirection back inside the near post found the back of the net for her second goal of the season.

Jessica Plunkett made three saves in net for the Crusaders to record her fourth shutout of the season.

The Crusaders held a 10-5 advantage in shots for the game.
