Reading, Pa. (Apr. 12, 2014) - Alvernia University (20-6, 10-4) swept a doubleheader over Lebanon Valley College (16-11, 7-7) Saturday afternoon by scores of 3-0 and 4-2.

Senior Mike Weinhold (Robesonia, Pa./Conrad Weiser) got the win in the opener going six innings and striking out 10 while allowing just three hits.  Steve Price (Barto, Pa./Boyertown) followed with six innings in game two allowing two unearned runs on six hits.  Junior closer Kevin Becker-Menditto (Frederick, Md./Walkersville) pitched a scoreless seventh inning in both games to pick up a pair of saves.

Five different players had a hit apiece for the Crusaders in the opener.  Matt Patterson (Hamilton, N.J./Nottingham) delivered a two-run hit in the sixth inning.  Jason Clapper (Mt. Laurel, N.J./Lenape) had the other RBI for Alvernia.

In the second game Alvernia put up three runs in the bottom of the second and after LVC got two in the third, Alvernia scored one more in the bottom third for the final 4-2 score.  Joe Iacobellis (Morganville, N.J./Red Bank Catholic) went 2-for-2 with an RBI and Rory Clemens (Harleysville, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) was 1-for-3 with a 2-run double.

Alvernia is scheduled to host Rowan University in an important regional match up on Sunday.
