Haverford, Pa. (Apr. 9, 2014) - Alvernia University (17-6) posted a few crooked numbers highlighted by a 5-run fifth inning and Ryan Sheekey (Scotch Plains, N.J./Roselle Catholic) went six innings to pick up his fourth win of the year in a 15-5 victory over Haverford College (10-12) Wednesday afternoon in non-conference baseball action.

The Crusaders scored three in the first inning, five in the fifth, and four in the eighth and pounded out 16 hits.  Senior Chris Gehris (Sinking Spring, Pa./Holy Name) was the hitting star of the night going 3-for-4 with a pair of home runs.  He is the only player on the roster with a home run this season and leads the way with four.

Sheekey gave up three runs on three hits with three walks and four strikeouts.  He was won his first four decisions.

Ten batters had at least one hit for the Crusaders, and Dustin Arnold (Annville, Pa./Lebanon Catholic) had a team-high four RBIs.

Alvernia returns home for a make-up game with Johns Hopkins on Thursday.
