Reading, Pa. (Jan. 12, 2015) - Alvernia University (7-6) put four of five starters in double figures led by a game-high 19 points from senior center
Harrison Deyo in a 75-48 win over Penn State-Berks Monday evening in non-conference men's basketball action at the Physical Education Center.
The Crusaders closed the first half with a 13-3 run to take a 37-27 lead at the break. Four of the five starters scored on the streak for the Crusaders led by
Lamont Clark who tallied six points in the final three minutes of the half.
Alvernia's lead hit 20 and then 23 points on back-to-back 3s from Chuck Cooper and
Alex Shippen, and remained comfortable the rest of the way.
Cooper and Clark both scored 13 points and
Mike Miller added a dozen. Berks had two players score 10 points apiece.
Alvernia returns to the conference schedule on Wednesady when it hosts Widener University for a women's and men's doubleheader.
