Big Second Half Carries Lycoming To 75-69 Win Over Alvernia

Williamsport, Pa. (Jan. 24, 2015) - Lycoming College (12-6, 4-5) put together a 44-point second half and got a game-high 22 points from Olivian Manges in a 75-69 win over Alvernia University (6-11, 2-7) Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Conference women's basketball aciton at Lamade Gymnasium.

The Crusaders marched out to a 34-31 lead at the break behind 15 points and nine rebounds from sophomore center Tyra Roberts.

Alvernia had a lead as large as seven points in the first half and settled for the three-point cushion at the break.  Lycoming took the lead for good with 12:24 left in the game when Manges answered a 3 from Chelsea Ebersole for a 46-44 score.

The Warriors pushed their lead to as many as nine points, 67-58, with under four minutes to go, but Alvernia scored seven straight points--all from the free throw line--to pull within two points, 67-65, with 99 seconds left.

Lycoming answered each Alvernia score in the final minute and hit a pair of free throws with one second left of the six-point final.

Roberts finished the game with 21 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Crusaders in both categories.  Kaitlyn Yoh nearly put together a double-double from the point guard position going for 14 points and nine rebounds.

Alvernia returns home to host Arcadia on Wednesday.
