Gwynedd Mercy, Pa. (Oct. 1, 2015) - Alvernia University (2-8-1) collected its first draw of the year, ending 1-1 with Gwynedd Mercy University (4-3-2) Thursday evening in non-conference women's soccer action at Gwynedd Mercy.

After a scoreless first half, the Griffins opened the scoring just after the 57-minute mark in the second half. Gwynedd Mercy capitalized on a corner opportunity, taking the 1-0 go ahead on a header goal.

The Crusaders scored the equalizer in the 63th minute as Johnna Shank gathered a rebound and drove Alvernia's lone goal into an open net..

The Crusaders ripped two shots in the second overtime, including a shot on goal by Bailey Stover, but the Griffin's goalie kept Alvernia off the board.

Alvernia held the slight advantage in shots, leading Gwynedd Mercy 10-9.

Crusaders goalie Jessica Plunkett collected five saves on the day.

Alvernia opens its conference schedule on Wednesday, hosting Arcadia University at 7:00 in MAC Commonwealth action.
