Reading, Pa. (Oct. 28, 2015) – Hood College (18-13, 3-5) got a match-high 17 kills from Elena Young in a 3-1 win over Alvernia University (12-17, 3-5) Thursday evening in MAC Commonwealth women's volleyball action at the Physical Education Center.
The Crusaders lost a close first set to the Blazers, with a score of 24-26. On the offensive end,
Laura Wachowicz had a team-high five kills and
Lauryn Snyder had a total of eight assists while on the defensive end,
Taylor Wesley had two blocks.
Alvernia fell to Hood in the second set 25-15.
Kristen Sipling was a standout player for the Crusaders with eight kills in the second set.
Hood jumped out early in the third set taking a 7-1 lead and looked in position to run away with the match, but the Crusaders were able to fight back to win the third set 25-20. Sipling had four kills in set three, with
Abby O'Donnell by her side handing out 17 assists.
Hood came out strong once again in the fourth set taking an early 7-3 lead on its way to a 25-19 win.
Sipling led the offense for the Crusaders with 12 kills with O'Donnell having a total of 21 assists.
Alvernia will wrap up the regular season at the Elizabethtown Halloween Tri-match this Saturday.
