Chester, Pa. (Feb. 14, 2015) - Senior Kaitlyn Yoh scored the last four points of regulation to force overtime, but Widener University (10-14, 3-11) put together an 8-0 run in the extra period for a 70-61 win over Alvernia University (7-16, 3-11) Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Conference women's basketball action at Widener.

The second half featured 10 ties--including 53-all at the final horn.  Widener was up 53-49 with just under a minute to play, but Yoh scored on a layup with 54 seconds left and hit a pair of free throws with 18 seconds to go to force the tie.  Widener missed a shot with nine seconds left and Alvernia go the miss, but turned the ball over without getting a final shot at the win.

Alvernia forced the 15th tie of the game three minutes into overtime, but Widener answered with eight straight points for the 67-59 lead with 19 seconds to play.

Both teams struggled from the floor in the early going.  The game was tied at 4-4 with six minutes gone.

Widener pushed ahead 17-8 just past the midway point, but Alvernia came back with an 11-2 run over the next six-plus minutes for a 20-19 lead. 

Widener settled for a four-point lead at the break, 27-23.

Alvernia tied the score at 27-all early in the second half on back-to-back jumpers from Tyra Roberts and Yoh.

Widener built a five-point lead with 4:30 to play and had the 53-49 lead with a minute to go.

Yoh finished the game with 18 points.  Roberts had 15 points and 13 rebounds.  Mya Lobb scored 11 points and Stevie Fortna added 10.

Alvernia returns home to host Lebanon Valley on Tuesday.
