Reading, Pa. (Feb. 21, 2015) - Albright College (19-6, 13-3) opened the game with a 20-2 run en route to a 73-54 win over Alvernia University (8-17, 4-12) Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Conference women's basketball action at The Bollman Center.
The Lions hit eight of their first 10 shots of the game and led 20-2 with seven minutes gone. Albright junior Kelecia Harris scored 10 of the first 20 for the Lions hitting all five shots she attempted.
The Lions led by 20 points, 33-13, with 6:30 left in the half, but Alvernia was able to close with a 13-6 run to cut the gap to 13 points at the half, 39-26.
The Crusaders continued to chip away at the deficit cutting it down to 10 points, 42-32, but Albright answered with six straight and seven of eight to take a 17-point lead with 14:53 to go.
The lead remained double digits the rest of the way.
Tyra Roberts led the Crusaders with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Harris paced the Crusaders with 20.
Alvernia concludes its season. Albright will be the #2 seed in the Commonwealth Championships and will host #3 Messiah College in a semifinal game on Wednesday.
