Bethlehem, PA (Sept. 5 ,2015) - Alvernia University completed its weekend at the 13th Annual Greyhound Premiere Invitational with a record of 1-3 dropping a 3-1 decision to Ursinus and beating Marywood 3-0 on Saturday.
Alvernia fell to Ursinus College in four games. Ursinus grabbed the first game 25-22 and won the second game 26-24. The Crusaders began to make a comeback, winning the third game 25-20, only to lose the final game to Ursinus 25-20.
Laura Wachowitz dished out a team high eight kills, while
Brittany Lantz and
Kristen Sipling followed closely with seven. Freshman setter
Lauryn Snyder led the team in assists, with a total of 20.
Alvernia defeated Marywood University in three games in the Crusaders final match of the weekend. The Crusaders clenched the first game 25-15, took the second game 25-21, and completed the match with a score of 25-16.
Sipling led the team in kills, with 16, with Wachowitz behind her at six kills. Snyder paced the team with 18 assists.
Emily Smith and Wachowitz were recognized and added to the All-Tournament Team for their commendable performances this weekend.
The Crusaders will return to the court on Wednesday, September 9, against Albright College at 7 p.m.
