Center Valley, Pa. (Jan. 3, 2016) - DeSales University (8-4) defeated Alvernia University (5-7) by a 79-52 final Sunday afternoon in the consolation game of the Al Senavitis Memorial Men's Basketball Tournament hosted by DeSales.
The Bulldogs put together a 16-0 run late in the first half to take a 22-point lead and cruised to victory. The Crusaders committed turnovers on four straight possessions at the start of the run, but the Bulldogs only converted that into five points for a 29-19 lead with 6:19 left in the half.
The Bulldogs got a 3 from Connor Jones on the next possession and poured in 10 points over the next three minutes for a 39-19 lead.
The second half lead hit 30 when the hosts opened the half with the first 11 points and stayed above 20 the rest of the way.
Marquis Marshall scored a game-high 20 points and was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Alex Shippen also reached double figures for the Crusaders with 14. Jones led the Bulldogs with 19 points.
Berkeley College (N.J.) defeated Stockton University in the championship game.
Alvernia returns to the conference schedule with a pair of road games at Hood College on Wednesday at Widener next Saturday.
