Reading, Pa. (Oct. 29, 2016) - Alexis Krall capitalized on a penalty stroke in the 61
st minute to lift Alvernia University (18-1) to a 3-2 victory over Cabrini College (10-7) Saturday afternoon in nonconference field hockey action on Alvernia's Turf Field.
With the game locked 2-2, Krall drove the game winning penalty stroke to the left corner past Cabrini's Taylor Bookman for her 13
th of the season.
Cabrini opened the game with an early 1-0 advantage less than 3 minutes in on a corner opportunity.
The Crusaders tied things up just before the half as
Hailey Knowlton took the feed from
Taylor Dorrin and netted her first of the year on a backhand sweep.
The two sides exchanged goals at the start of the second half. Cabrini reestablished its lead in the 35
th minute, but
Andrea Wysocki responded 50 seconds later. The Crusaders worked the ball towards the net, relaying it down the left side.
Michaela Burke delivered the final pass to Wysocki, who had great positioning on Bookman and pushed the feed past Cabrini's last defender for the 2-2 equalizer.
With the win, the Crusaders finish the regular season 18-1.
Alvernia opens the MAC Commonwealth playoffs on Wednesday as the 2 seed, hosting 3-seeded Arcadia at 5:00 p.m.
