Danbury, Conn. (Nov. 7, 2016) - The Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) released the Field Hockey Championships bracket on Monday with Alvernia University (19-2) earning the top overall seed. #1 Alvernia will host #4 Washington & Jefferson in a quarterfinal on Wednesday.
The ECAC has restructured its regional championship format for the 2016 season selecting four teams from both regions (North and South). Each region will have two winners after the Wednesday quarterfinals and those four teams will meet for a Final Four on Saturday and Sunday at the highest remaining seed.
Alvernia, the top seed in the South Region, will host W&J at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday then host the second South region game at 7:00 that evening with #2 Muhlenberg playing #3 Albright.
If Alvernia were to win the quarterfinal game it would face the Muhlenberg/Albright winner on Saturday at home at 11:00 a.m.
In the North Region, FDU-Florham is the top seed and will host #4 Marywood on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. #2 Kean will host #3 Manhattanville in the other North Region game also at 7:00.
Saturday's semifinal games--at the highest remaining seed--will be at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The Championship Final will be played on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
